Derry Township, PA : Wayne J. Kowalewski, 47, injured in rollover crash along Route 22 in Derry Township on Tuesday, January 27, 2015

An Indiana County man was seriously injured late Tuesday in a crash along Route 22 in Derry Township, police said.
Wayne J. Kowalewski, 47, had to be extricated from his 2015 Jeep Compass after the accident at 11 p.m. near the highway's intersection with Route 982. He suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, where he was reported in fair condition Wednesday.
Police said Kowalewski was eastbound when his sport utility vehicle crossed into the westbound lanes, drove off the north berm and down an embankment. The vehicle then struck several small trees before hitting a guide wire, flipping onto its roof.
Responding were fire units from Bradenville, Blairsville, Crabtree, Forbes Road and New Alexandria, as well as Mutual Aid Ambulance Service.
