Topeka, KS : No one injured in seven-vehicle crash on I-70 in Topeka on Wednesday afternoon, March 29, 2017

No one was injured in a seven-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 late Wednesday afternoon.

Wet pavement on the interstate caused the crash just before 4:30 p.m., Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Jory Custar said at the scene.

It is a bad area for hydroplaning, he said.

The crash occurred west of the exit to US-75 highway and east of the S.W. Fairlawn exit and reduced westbound I-70 to one lane. Westbound traffic was slowed to exits as far as downtown Topeka more than an hour after the crash was reported.

Four of the seven vehicles involved were disabled and had to be towed from the scene, Custar said.

The crash involved an older blue pickup truck, a black Chevrolet pickup truck, a gold minivan, a black passenger car, a blue SUV, a blue Chevy and a silver four-door car. The silver vehicle sustained heavy rear-end damage, while the blue Chevy came to a stop facing east.
