A Hillsboro man was hurt in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi in Marion County Saturday.

While on K-15, Eriel Gonzalez-Mitre, 29, of Hillsboro, saw a semi approaching that was hauling an oversized load. He decided that he didn’t want to meet the vehicle on a bridge, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.

He then locked up his breaks, which caused his vehicle to slide across the center line, striking the load being pulled by the semi driven by Joshua Caleb Meliza, 27, also of Hillsboro.

Around 9:50 a.m., Gonzalez-Mitre was taken to Newton Medical Center for possible injuries.

Both people involved were wearing their seat belts.
