Markle, IN : 3 hurt, 2 critically, in Huntington County crash on Interstate 69 south of Markle

Three people were injured this morning, two critically, in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 69 south of Markle, Indiana State Police said.

State police at Fort Wayne said a vehicle driven by Aaron M. Wiegand, 28, of Fort Wayne was traveling south on the interstate near the 281-mile-marker about 8:50 a.m. when it traveled into the center median. The vehicle spun around and entered the northbound lanes, police said.

Wiegand's vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by Candee M. Smith, 55, of Warren, police said. They said Wiegand's vehicle came to rest in the right northbound lane, while Smith's vehicle traveled off the roadway, into a ditch and rolled over before coming to rest.
