Five officers were injured Thursday morning when two Chicago police vehicles collided in the East Garfield Park neighborhood while responding to a call, Chicago Police said.
Harrison District officers received a call of shots fired at 10:19 a.m., said Officer Zeyad Matlock, a police spokesman. A traffic pursuit followed and a marked and unmarked police vehicle crashed at the intersection of Jackson Boulevard and Francisco Avenue.
Two were listed in serious condition and went to Stroger Hospital for treatment and the three others had their conditions stabilized and are at either Mount Sinai Hospital or Rush University Medical Center, said Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
The officers have non-life threatening injuries, Matlock added.
The suspected vehicle involved in the shots fired call was reported stolen and was found in the 2600 block of West Adams Street unoccupied with an extended magazine inside, Matlock said.
