BULLHEAD CITY, AZ : No injuries reported in fiery crash at 95 and Plata on Sunday, 30th October 2016
A car burst into flames after a collision with another vehicle Sunday afternoon.
No one was injured in the crash that occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the intersection of Highway 95 and Plata Drive when a Mitsubishi Eclipse heading northbound on Highway 95 reportedly turned suddenly onto Plata Drive in front of a southbound Ford Explorer.
The crash sent the Ford into the landscaping at Terrible Herbst Country Store and the Mitsubishi eastward across the intersection onto Plata Drive, where it smoldered before suddenly bursting into flames, said Battalion Chief Bill Kinsey, Bullhead City Fire Department.
“Everyone must have been restrained,” Kinsey said. “The occupants of the Mitsubishi, a middle-aged man and a 16-year-old boy, were uninjured in the crash and neither were burned. The driver of the Ford reported no injuries.”
Witnesses reported the occupants of the Mitsubishi attempted to leave the scene.
“The two people in the Mitsubishi jumped out of the car and started up the hill,” said Sarah Dee, Terrible’s cashier. “A citizen followed and stopped them. The paramedics got here pretty quickly and the police were right behind them.”
Engines 711, 721, Medical 731 and 751 and Battalion 7 responded, Kinsey said. Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire.“
Bullhead City Police are conducting an investigation involving the driver of the Mitsubishi. The 16-year-old was given a ride home.
