A woman was killed in a crash overnight while trying to avoid hitting a deer on Interstate 79 in Marshall.
State police said Jacqueline M. Maloney, 55, of Cranberry was driving north on I-79 shortly before 12:30 a.m. when she swerved to avoid a deer on the highway about a half-mile from Wexford Run Road and lost control of her car. She struck a guiderail, the vehicle overturned and she was ejected, state police said. A passing vehicle then struck her.
She was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:44 a.m., according to the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office.
An autopsy is scheduled for today.
