SPARR, FL : A single-vehicle crash on a two-lane road in Sparr on Wednesday, November, 22nd 2017

A single-vehicle crash on a two-lane road in Sparr claimed the life of a man on Wednesday.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers at the scene said a 2000 Dodge Ram towing a wooden trailer was traveling east on County Road 329 when for an unknown reason, the driver drifted off the roadway and the front struck a tree on the shoulder.

Troopers said the driver, Arthur B. Smith, 50, of Anthony, was pronounced dead at 4:58 p.m.

The crash occurred just shy of the 2400 block of CR 329. Officials did not release the victim’s name pending family notification.

The death was the third on county roads since Friday and the 78th for the year. In 2016, the county had 71 deaths.
