Grand Island, NE : SUV involved in North Eddy accident may have been stolen on Sunday, 4th March 2018
One of the drivers in a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon at 10th and Eddy streets fled the scene.
The driver who took off was behind the wheel of a red Toyota SUV that was traveling north on Eddy. “We believe the vehicle was stolen,” said Sgt. Stan Steele of the Grand Island Police Department.
The SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed and ran a red light, according to witnesses. The SUV collided with a Nissan that was eastbound on 10th, Steele said.
The accident occurred at about 2:40 p.m. The people in the Nissan were transported via ambulance, primarily as a precaution, Steele said.
The accident forced the closure of two blocks of North Eddy.
