Wastsonville, CA : 7-year-old girl flown to Bay Area trauma center after being hit by car in Watsonville on May 13,2014

Watsonville police say a 7-year-old girl was flown to a Bay Area trauma center after she was hit by a car Tuesday evening.

It happened on the 100 block of Brennan Street just after 8 p.m.

Officers say the little girl ran into road as she played and that the driver tried unsuccessfully to stop.

He stopped and cooperated with the police investigation. Investigators determined the driver was unlicensed. He was ticketed and his car was impounded.

The girl's injuries are said to be non life-threatening.
