Two people died when their sedan crashed head on into an oncoming log truck.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Todd Gilman was driving a 2001 Toyota Corolla eastbound on Nonpareil Road when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle veered into the oncoming lane and struck a fully loaded log truck travelling westbound.
Authorities say the head-on collision ejected Todd Gilman and his wife, Tina Gilman, from the vehicle.
The Sutherlin residents, both 50, died at the scene.
The driver of the log truck was transported to Mercy Medical Center with unknown injuries.
Investigators said it appears both vehicles were traveling about 55 mph at the time of the crash.
The Oregon State Police sent personnel to the scene to assist with accident reconstruction. Sutherlin Police, Fair Oaks Fire and Fire District 2 also responded.
