Salt Lake City, UT : West Valley City man died in a Semi vs. car crash on Bangerter Highway on Thursday morning, March 9, 2017

A West Valley City man died Thursday morning after he reportedly ran a red light and collided with a semi trailer rig on Bangerter Highway.

The 6:07 a.m. crash reportedly occurred when the northbound sedan crashed into the westbound semi at the highway's intersection with Salt Lake City's California Avenue (about 1300 South).

The crash wedged the car underneath the semi's trailer. Emergency workers found the man, identified as 29-year-old Antonio Martinez, dead inside the wreckage.

The collision, which closed all lanes of the highway at the intersection for two hours, remained under investigation, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said.

The driver of the semi was not injured.
