A 22-year-old Rifle man died Saturday morning in a one-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 70 outside of Silt.

Matthew Day was driving a 2007 Toyota pickup eastbound near mile marker 97 at approximately 8 a.m. when the vehicle went off the right side of the road, according to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis.

Day over-corrected and the truck rolled over, ending up in the westbound traffic lane.

Day, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries.

There was one passenger in the truck, a 25-year-old man from Glenwood Springs who has not been identified and who received mild to moderate injuries in the accident, Lewis said.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Alcohol is being investigated as a factor, Lewis said, though further information as to why was not immediately available.
