SPRINGFIELD, IL : 4 injured in 4-car crash on I-91 in Springfield on Friday, 7th June 2019

Four people were transported to an area hospital after four vehicles crashed on Interstate 91 near Exit 8 just after 5 p.m. Friday.

Springfield Fire Department spokesman Brian Tetreault said the Heavy Rescue Unit and several engines responded to help remove a pregnant woman from her sedan.

In all, Tetreault said four people were taken by ambulance from the scene. The conditions of the injured are unknown.Emergency medical units from commercial ambulance services as well as rigs from West Springfield and Agawam responded to the scene. An off-duty Longmeadow firefighter provided assistance as well.

State troopers said the crash blocked all but one lane of the southbound side of the highway for an extended period.
