Roanoke, VA : Tractor-trailer crashes on I-81 near Christiansburg on Sunday, October 1, 2017

A tractor-trailer crashed on the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 several miles east of Christiansburg on Sunday afternoon, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

VDOT announced the crash on its Twitter account just before 2 p.m. A graphic on 511virginia.org states that a traffic detour has been set up at I-81's Roanoke Street exit in Christiansburg.

State and local law enforcement officials couldn't be reached to provide more details on the accident.
