Augusta, GA : A woman was killed in a traffic accident in Burke Count on Sunday, 13th May 2018
A woman was killed in a traffic accident Sunday in Burke County and a man was injured, according to a news release from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
The wreck happened about 4 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 25 and Georgia Highway 24, when a vehicle driven by William Cameron, 42, of Williamston, S.C., ran a red light and collided with the side of the other vehicle, killing Kimberly S. Godbee, 55, of Girard, Ga., according to the release. Cameron was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Neither driver had passengers.
Charges are pending, according to the release.
“This is the sixth fatality in Burke County so far this year,” said Chief Deputy Lewis Blanchard. “The primary causes of crashes with injuries in our county include speed, DUI, following too closely and distracted driving.”
