Hudson, NY: Two women hospitalized in seperate motorcycle crashes on Monday, July 27th 2015
Two Columbia County women were hospitalized with serious injuries following separate motorcycle accidents Saturday, according to New York State Police.The first accident occurred at approximately 12:46 p.m. when police responded to a reported motorcycle collision that occurred on Hunt Road in Hillsdale.Rose Curatello, 62, of Hillsdale, was operating a 1988 Honda motorcycle northbound on Hunt Road when she lost control of her vehicle and was ejected, according to police. She then struck a block retaining wall.Curatello was airlifted to Albany Medical Center with severe internal injuries and head trauma.The State Police were assisted by Life Net, Community Rescue Squad and Hillsdale Fire Department.Also on Saturday, state police responded to a Columbia County 911 call reporting a motorcycle crash that occurred at around 7:10 p.m. Route 66 in Ghent.Bridget A. McLellan, 46, of Chatham, was operating a 2012 Honda motorcycle northbound on Route 66 at a high rate of speed when she exited the roadway off the east shoulder and was unable to regain control of the motorcycle, according to police.McLellan was transported to Albany Medical Center with severe injuries, according to police.State Police were assisted by the Ghent Fire Department, Chatham Rescue and several good Samaritans who police reported to have assisted them at the scene.Little information on the condition of the two women was available Monday, said Troop K. Spokeswoman Trooper Melissa McMorris.McLellan sustained head injuries and internal injuries, she said. There is a possibility that alcohol could have played a role in McLellan’s accident, McMorris said, but the investigation was ongoing.
