El Verano, CA : 3-year-old boy struck and killed by a vehicle in Sonoma County on Sunday night, July 10, 2016

A 3-year-old boy was fatally struck by a pickup truck after he fell from his stroller in a Sonoma County crosswalk.

The boy fell out of his stroller while a group of pedestrians was crossing the street Sunday in unincorporated El Verano, about 15 miles west of Napa.

According to California Highway Patrol, the boy suffered major injuries and was flown to a Napa hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The man driving the pickup truck was cooperating with investigators. Officials say a field sobriety test was conducted and there was no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.
