HILL CITY, SD : Woman dies in crash near Hill City on July, Sunday 23th 2017
A 54-year-old female died Sunday in a vehicle-motorcycle crash northeast of Hill City.
Names of the deceased and the other driver are not being released pending notification of family members. They were the only people involved.
A 1984 Ford Mustang was westbound on Calumet Road when it stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Calumet Road and U.S. Highway 385. The vehicle proceeded into the intersection where it collided with a 2007 Harley Davidson XL1200L. The motorcycle was part of a three-motorcycle group traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 385.
The female motorcycle driver, who collided with the vehicle, was thrown from her motorcycle. She was later pronounced dead at a Rapid City hospital. She was not wearing a helmet.
An 82-year-old female was the driver of the Ford Mustang. She was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. Charges are pending.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Rapid City Fire Department, Hill City Fire Department and Hill City EMS.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
