Plainview, TX : Teen killed in a one-vehicle crash in Wheeler County on Sunday, March 19, 2017
The Texas Department of Public Safety was called to a one-vehicle crash Sunday on County Road 4 in Wheeler County, resulting in the death of one person.
At approximately 6:45 p.m., Kynna Peers, 15, of Mobeetie, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe south on CR-4, approximately 5 miles northwest of Mobeetie. Peers left the roadway and lost control of the vehicle which caused it to roll over multiple times, according to DPS Sgt. Cindy Barkley.
Peers was pronounced dead on scene by Wheeler County Justice of the Peace Mark Brown.
Her two passengers, Hannah Shepard, 16, and Heather Bell, 18, of Mobeetie, were air-lifted to the hospital with serious injuries.
All occupants were wearing their seat belts.
Speed is believed to be the contributing factor to the crash, according to the DPS.
The road conditions were dry and no other vehicles were involved.
