Chatfield, MN : One died and multiple injured in a crash on Highway 52 in north of Chatfield on Thursday morning, Nov 26, 2015

There was one death and several people injured in a crash north of Chatfield Thanksgiving morning.

A driver was headed northbound on Highway 52 when it had crossed the center lines several times before crossing the middle again and colliding with a southbound car, according to witnesses. Another car was heading northbound and had swerved to avoid the vehicles and had entered a ditch and rolled.

There was one reported fatality from the accident, according to Minnesota State Highway Patrol.

Thomas Collins, 29, of St. Louis Park and the driver of the car that had swerved had sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Rochester Mayo Clinic — St. Marys campus. The driver of the southbound vehicle, Nicholas Farley, 33, of Woodbury and passenger Jaxon Farley of Eagan did not have any apparent injuries, while Ashley Farley, 32, of Eagan sustained non-life threatening injuries was also transported to St. Marys.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation had posted earlier that day on Twitter asking drivers to "look for [a] detour north of Chatfield on Highway 52" and that closure should be expected for several hours as the state highway patrol investigates the crash.

The identity of the driver who died at the scene will be released later tonight.
