Fort Wayne, IN: Motorcyclist killed after colliding with pickup on Monday, July 27th 2015

A motorcyclist was killed Monday after slamming into a pickup truck on the city’s south side.Police and medics were called around 2:45 p.m. Monday to the intersection of McKinnie Avenue and McMillen Park Drive on a report of a motorcycle and pickup crash.Police said that the motorcycle and the pickup were both eastbound on McKinnie. Witnesses told police that the motorcyclist had been speeding and weaving around traffic when it came up on the pickup as it slowed to turn onto McMillen Park Drive.The motorcycle crashed into the pickup broadside as it turned south, throwing the man from the bike. Medics and firefighters pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, police said.The driver of the pickup, the vehicle’s lone occupant, was not injured, police said.The identity of the victim will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office later, police said.The crash forced the closure of McKinnie between South Anthony Boulevard and Hessen Cassel Road in both directions for more than two hours. It reopened at 5 p.m.
