Eolia, MO : Two people injured in Pike County crash on Monday morning, March 14, 2017

Two Des Moines, Iowa, residents were injured in a Monday morning crash in Pike County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2002 Chevrolet Impala driven by Melany A. Swanson, 43, of Des Moines, was northbound on U.S. 61 at Highway H at 5:30 a.m. The patrol said the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned.

Swanson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported by Pike County EMS to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis with moderate injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, Wayne J. Swanson, 14, who was wearing a seat belt, also was transported by Pike County EMS to the Lake St. Louis Hospital with minor injuries.
