Richmond, KY : One injured in Martin Bypass collision on April, Wednesday 26th 2017
An injury collision occurred around noon Wednesday at the intersection of the Robert R. Martin Bypass and Old Wilderness Trail Road in Richmond.
Based on initial indications, it appears the driver of a brown colored van, traveling southeast on the bypass, ran the red light, said RPD Major Steve Gregg. The driver of an SUV turning onto the bypass from Old Wilderness Trail Road responded to a green light and struck the van, which Gregg said flipped multiple times, ultimately pinning the van's driver for a short time.
The driver of the van sustained injuries to his left arm. He has be transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment and evaluation. No others were injured.
The Richmond Police Department were assisted on the scene by Madison County EMS and the Richmond Fire Department.
The accident shut down the east bound lanes of the Robert R. Martin Bypass for approximately 30 minutes.
