A 20-year-old North Wilkesboro man died after a crash on NC-16 in Wilkes County Thursday, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said around 1:30 p.m., they received a call about a deadly crash near Nichols Landing Lane. Investigators said a 2009 Toyota Venza was driving south on NC-16 behind a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado slowed down, preparing to make a left turn into a private driveway, and the Venza failed to slow down in time and swerved to the left, striking the Silverado. The Venza continued across the centerline and crashed head-on with a northbound 2008 Jeep Liberty.
