Athens, GA : Jefferson man killed Wednesday in one-vehicle crash on Wednesday, March 15th 2017

A 19-year-old Jefferson man was killed in a one vehicle crash Wednesday north of Jefferson, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The wreck occurred about 4:45 p.m. on New Salem Road and claimed the life of Caleb Steven Moore, the son of Jackson County Probate Judge Sherry Moore.

A patrol spokesman said the 2008 Ford Edge was traveling south when it failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle went off the right shoulder and hit the side of a train car parked on the track, according to the report.

The driver died at the scene, the patrol said.
