Estes Park, CO : Motorcyclist injured in Westminster crash on Sunday, 4th September 2016

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday evening in a crash in Westminster.

The accident happened around 6:15 p.m. Sunday in the 7400 block of Federal Boulevard when the motorcycle was attempting to turn left onto 74th Avenue, according to a Westminster Police Department news release.

Heavy traffic on southbound Federal Boulevard had the green light. A car in the left lane stopped for the motorcycle, but the car in the middle lane did not stop as the motorcycle turned, the police reported.

The car in the middle lane struck the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, police said.

The driver stayed on the scene, and police do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the police department's traffic unit.
