SPRINGFIELD, MA : 3-vehicle crash in Springfield sends female to hospital on Thursday, 20th February, 2020

A two-vehicle crash on Roosevelt Avenue Thursday afternoon sent both drivers to the hospital, police said.
The crash occurred about 5 p.m. across from Central High School, Ryan Walsh, spokesman for Springfield police, said.
It occurred as one of the drivers was backing out of a driveway. Both were taken to Baystate Medical Center for evaluation. The driver who backed out of the driveway was cited for a marked lanes violation, Walsh said.Capt. Drew Piemonte, aide to Fire Commissioner Bernard J. Calvi, told Western Mass News firefighters extricated a female from the wreckage. Although initial reports indicated three vehicles were involved, Walsh said the police report only noted two.
