FAIRMONT, MN : Woman killed in I-90 crash on Thursday, March 9th 2017
A 21-year-old Mountain Lake woman was killed earlier this week in a four-vehicle accident that occurred along Interstate 90 west of Fairmont.
Hannah Elizabeth Stoesz was a passenger in a 2011 Ford Escape, driven by Tyler James Schoborg, 19, of Westbrook. Their vehicle was eastbound on I-90 about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday when it was struck by a Honda CR-V traveling west in the eastbound lanes. The Honda was driven by Mark Jason Wendland, 48, of Baltic, S.D., who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The Minnesota State Patrol says alcohol was involved on the part of Wendland.
Schoborg was taken to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester with unspecified injuries. He and Wendland were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, while the State Patrol reports that Stoesz was not.
Additionally, a 2013 Mack truck driven by Jacob Lynn Oeltjenbruns, 33, of Granada was traveling east on I-90 and had started to pull over to the shoulder of the highway. A 2016 Kenworth truck driven by Nathan Stefan Grela, 39, of Billings, Mont., also was eastbound and moved into the left lane to pass the Mack truck. The Kenworth came upon the crash scene and swerved to the right, lightly side-swiping the Honda and running into the back of the Mack. Both trucks ended up in the ditch.
The two truck drivers were both wearing seat belts and suffered no injuries.
