Denver, CO : Alcohol suspected in serious crash; Intersection reopens on Saturday, 5th November 2016
A suspected drunk driving crash near Memorial Park early Saturday left one person injured and a nearby intersection shut down for several hours, according to Colorado Springs police.
The crash was reported at about 1:45 a.m. near Pikes Peak and Hancock avenues, which remained closed until about 7 a.m. A pickup truck was driving north on Hancock Avenue when it was struck by another car, police said.The driver of the pickup was taken to an area hospital for injuries that were considered serious but not life-threatening, according to police.
The driver of the car, 26-year-old Saudah Hawkins, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault and other traffic charges. Police believe alcohol was involved in the crash.
