MASSILLON, OH : Autopsy shows woman in crash died of multiple injuries on Saturday, 5th November 2016
An autopsy show a woman killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday died from multiple traumatic injuries, according to a Stark County Coroner's Office investigator.
Victoria C. Provitt, 22, of Massillon, was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus west on North Avenue near 10th Street at 1:13 a.m. Saturday when a city police officer tried to stop her for a traffic violation, according to a news release from the Ohio Highway Patrol's Canton post, which is investigating the crash.
Troopers believe Provitt accelerated, lost control of the car, and slammed into two utility poles in front of Yund's Car Wash. She was pronounced dead a short time later at Affinity Medical Center. A passenger also was taken to Affinity with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the news release.
Troopers said alcohol is a suspected factor in the fatal crash.
Provitt died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries, said Rick Walters, investigator for the Stark County Coroner's Office. Toxicology tests are pending, he said.
