An Ashburnham man was flown by medical helicopter to a Worcester hospital on Wednesday night after being involved in a serious single-car accident on Route 2.
The driver, Richard Gregoire, suffered non-life threatening injures, according to Massachusetts State Police. He was taken to a helicopter landing zone at Heywood Hospital in Gardner and then flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Gregoire had to be extricated from his Kia Forte by Westminster firefighters after crashing his car on Route 2 near Exit 25 around 6 p.m.
He was conscious and alert when first responders arrived on the scene.
