Charlotte, NC : Power lines cleared after crash, South Blvd lanes opened on Wednesday morning, September 24, 2014

Traffic on South Boulevard was backed up for hours after the driver of the car took out a utility pole on one of Charlotte's busiest roads. Police say Sasha Jenkins slammed her car into two utility poles on South Boulevard around 3:30 Wednesday morning, sending power lines across the road. South Boulevard was closed for hours as Duke Energy crews cleaned up the lines across four lanes of South Boulevard. All lanes opened around 8:00am. Cody Little lives not too far from the crash. He said the moment is the car hit the pole, "it sounded like a tornado was coming through basically and I listened after the crash in about 15 minutes later it was sirens coming and I kept seeing lights down here." CMPD is still investigating the crash and is looking into if Jenkins was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident.
