TUCSON, AZ : Fatal motorcycle crash on Tucsons southwest side on Friday, 16th February 2024

A fatal motorcycle crash occurred on Tucson's southwest side Friday.Tucson Police tells News 4 Tucson the accident happened on West Ajo Highway and South La Cholla Blvd on Friday just before 7 p.m.

Upon arrival, TFD pronounced the motorcyclist deceased.

The motorcyclist was identified as 51-year-old Joseph Henry Gill III.

Witness interviews conducted by officers determined the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet pickup was traveling eastbound on Ajo Way attempting to turn onto northbound La Cholla Blvd. As the truck attempted to turn left on a passive green traffic signal, it collided with Mr. Gill.

The driver of the truck was not impaired. Any impairment from the motorcyclist will be determined through medical records.

Detectives noted that Mr. Gill was wearing a helmet and had the proper motorcycle license endorsement.
