Anchorage,AK : Anchorage man killed in ATV crash on Denali Highway on August, Saturday 26th 2017

An Anchorage man was killed in an ATV crash on the Denali Highway Saturday, the Alaska State Troopers said.

Song Her, 50, of Anchorage, was riding westbound on the highway at Mile 92 of the road when his ATV "left the roadway and rolled down an embankment," troopers wrote in an online dispatch.

Troopers were told the ATV driver appeared to be trying to avoid a vehicle, said troopers spokesperson Megan Peters.

"It is unclear how close the vehicle was or if that driver even saw the ATV," she said.

Song Her was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was traveling with what troopers called a "male juvenile" passenger. The child wasn't injured, Peters said.

The 134-mile Denali Highway, which runs from Cantwell to Paxson, sees heavy use during the fall hunting season. Peters said it wasn't clear whether Her was in the area to hunt.
