Fayetteville Police identified three people who were killed in a multi-car crash on Murchison Road Wednesday.Officers responded around 6:30 p.m. to a report of a traffic crash along the 3500 block of Murchison Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that three vehicles were involved in a crash.
Police said three people died in the crash. On Thursday, police identified the three victims as 67-year-old John Wesley Morrow of Fayetteville, 50-year-old Jimmy Campbell of Lumberton and 35-year-old Laytosha McNair of Raeford.
“She was just an inspiration to everybody," commented McNair’s friend Angela Carter. She and several other friends and family gathered at McNair’s home on Thursday.
Carter said McNair was headed to Bible study just a few blocks further down Murchison Road when she was involved in the crash.“But that's not unusual for Tosha,” Carter explained. “She didn't just go to her church. She went to everybody else's church, and if you invited her to revival she was coming to that church."
Fayetteville Police have not said what caused the accident. Lt. Todd Joyce said investigators talked to witnesses, viewed nearby surveillance video and are using the cars’ computer system to get a better idea of what happened.
“They download that data, and it gives the officers better insight as to what was going on maybe just prior to that crash,” Joyce said. “There may be some speculation as to what occurred, but we don't want to put that out there. It's not fair to the families of those who were involved."
A fourth driver, 40-year-old Jennifer Chagnon of Clemmons, was not seriously injured in the crash.
