LAKE ALFRED, Fla. — A Lake Alfred man was killed early Tuesday as he was getting into his car to leave for work, according to Polk County authorities.
The body of James Yelvington, 60, was found beside his car at about 6 a.m., authorities said.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Lake Alfred Police Department held a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

"We need to know who killed Mr. Yelvington, who murdered him outside of his home, who viciously murdered him in this quiet neighborhood," Sheriff Grady Judd said.
Neighbors who heard gunshots said they ran outside to see a dark-colored car speed away.
“It's the all-American family from everything we know at this point in the investigation,” Judd said.
