Kansas City, MO : Brandon Didde, 32, dead after wrong-way crash on Interstate 435 on Sunday, March 22, 2015
A man is dead after driving the wrong way on Interstate 435.
Police said a man behind the wheel of a Jeep was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-435 east just north of the Cookingham Drive exit. As he came around the curve, the driver crashed head-on into a Time Warner Cable truck.
The Jeep spun out into another lane and a semi driver slammed into the vehicle. The violent impact of the crash ejected the driver.
"The driver of the Jeep died and he's an adult male, but we haven't been able to positively identify him at this time,” said Kansas City Police Department Sgt. Bill Mahoney.
The cable truck was coming back from the NCAA Tournament in Omaha, Neb. It was carrying at least $20,000 worth of technology and caught fire soon after the collision.
Investigators are working to determine whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in this crash.
The drivers of the Time Warner Cable truck and the semi were not hurt. Both are cooperating with the investigation.
Crews had to shut down the Woodland exit on-ramp. It reopened Monday morning ahead of rush hour.
