DeKalb, TX : Two die in car wreck on U.S. Highway 82 near DeKalb on Sunday, July 10, 2016

Two people were killed early Sunday in a one-vehicle accident near DeKalb.

According to information from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened at 4:23 a.m. on U.S. Highway 82, about 4.5 miles west of DeKalb.

Hiliberto Mancilla Gonzalez, 22, of Avery, Texas, was driving west on U.S. 82 in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado when he went off the road into the ditch on the north side of U.S. 82.

Gonzalez then overcorrected to the left, causing the vehicle to travel across both westbound and eastbound lanes of U.S. 82 in a right skid and into the ditch on the south side of U.S. 82. The truck rolled one time and struck a tree as it rolled.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, Maria Del-Rosario Trujillo, 23, of Jacksonville, Texas, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
