North Creek , NY : Seven St. Lawrence County school teachers injured after three-car crash on Saturday ,May 23rd 2015
Authorities are investigating a three-car crash in the Adirondack Mountains that injured seven teachers from a St. Lawrence County school.
The Warren County Sheriff's Department says the accident happened Saturday afternoon on Route 28 in the Town of Johnsburg as a group from Parishville-Hopkinton School was traveling in two vans on a whitewater rafting trip.
Authorities say an SUV driven by 60-year-old Walter Babeyko of Watervliet crossed into the path of the two vans, sideswiped one, and smashed head-on into the other. Both vans skidded off the roadway and one overturned.
The most seriously hurt were 56-year-old librarian Irene Sinclair, who suffered a fractured hip and arm, and reading teacher Dan McCormack, with a fractured vertebrae, and arm and rib injuries.
Both were being treated at Albany Medical Center, as was Babeyko.
Police say there's no indication alcohol was a factor.
