According to Florida Highway Patrol, Alisha Lee, 27, of Navarre, was driving a 1994 Ford F-150 pickup westbound on U.S. Hwy. 98, just east of Reynolds Circle, when the chain-reaction accident occurred at 4:02 p.m. In the pickup was Lee's 5-year-old child.
Approaching a red light, Lee did not stop, crashing into the back of a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup driven by 49-year-old Robbie McLawhorn of Navarre. The impact of that collision forced McLawhorn's vehicle into the rear of a white Dodge Ram, and finally, into another vehicle stopped for the light, a Ford Escape.
Lee, who was cited for careless driving, and her child were both transported to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center and are listed in serious condition, according to the FHP report.
McLawhorn was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Also involved in the accident was a 2003 Dodge Ram driven by James Gipson, 26, of Fort Walton Beach, and a 2016 Ford Escape driven by Diana Lacroix, 50, of Navarre. Gipson was not injured in the wreck, but a passenger in his truck, 27-year-old Thyla Gilliland, 27, of Fort Walton Beach, and Lacroix were both taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
The FHP report noted alcohol was not related to the accident.
