Burns, OR : DUII driver killed 2 people, injured a 3rd on Oregon highway on Monday, November 14, 2016
A drunk driver crossed into oncoming traffic, hit an SUV with his pickup and killed 2 Idaho men on a remote stretch of highway in southeastern Oregon, Oregon State Police said.
Brandon Fuller, 45, of Livermore, Calif., escaped the crash with minor injuries. Police arrested him on two counts of second degree manslaughter, third degree assault, reckless driving and DUII.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 95 about 30 miles north of the Nevada border.
State police said the preliminary investigation found Fuller was northbound in a 2000 Toyota Tundra when he cross the center line and hit a southbound 2005 Chevy Trail Blazer.
The crash killed the driver of the Chevy, Luis M. Salas Ramirez, 35, of Garden City, Idaho; and his passenger, Parrish W. Speegle, 49, of Boise, Idaho. Both victims died at the scene.
A third person - William K. Speegle, 42, of Boise, Idaho, was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Boise with life-threatening injuries, police said.
The emergency response and investigation closed Highway 95 for 6 hours. Law enforcement and fire personnel from Oregon and Nevada assisted in the investigation.
