Milford, NH : Woman was killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision at Route 101 On Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016
A Belmont woman was killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision Tuesday morning in Milford.
The crash left the rear end of one vehicle hanging over the edge of a guardrail on Route 101.
"At approximately 10:30 this morning, we responded to a motor vehicle accident up on the bypass," police Capt. Craig Frye said. "It's right over the overpass of Route
13 southbound. It appears to be two cars involved with a head-on collision."
Police said an SUV driven by Roberta Odell, 52, of Winchester, was traveling east on Route 101 when it tried to make a pass in a legal zone, but it crashed into a
white sedan heading in the opposite direction.
A passenger in the sedan, Susan Robbs, 69, of Belmont, was killed. The driver, Thomas Robbs, 74, of Belmont, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not
considered to be life-threatening.
Odell was flown to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where she was listed in serious condition.
A small section of Route 101 was closed while police investigated. Traffic was diverted, but there were no serious delays.
Authorities said that although Odell's vehicle ended up on top of the guardrail, the bridge was safe.
"The bridge is fine," Frye said. "We had the state inspectors here. They looked at it, and the car itself has been stabilized by the Milford Fire Department."
Police said the investigation is ongoing, and they are speaking to witnesses.
