QUITMAN, GA : Brooks man killed in wreck on Sunday, November 13th 2016

A Quitman man was killed Sunday in a one-vehicle wreck, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

At 6 a.m., troopers responded to a crash on Johnson Short Road just west of Old Madison Road in Brooks County, said Cpl. Chris Kelch of the patrol's Post 31 in Valdosta.

A 1999 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Justin Ray Parker, 23, of Quitman was heading east on Johnson Shot road at a reportedly high speed when he lost control of the vehicle and left the road, striking a ditch, Kelch said.

The vehicle overturned several times, ejecting Parker from the vehicle, he said. Parker was declared dead on the scene by Brooks County Coroner Mike Miller, Kelch said.

No seat belts were used and airbag deployment was not noted, he said.
