Springfield, IL : Two people are dead after a rollover crash on Thursday, August 3, 2017

2 people are dead after a rollover crash in Chippewa County.

The State Patrol says it happened just before 12:30 yesterday afternoon on Highway 27 north of Cadott. When a trooper arrived on scene, 2 people were discovered in the car. The female driver, an 80-year old woman from McHenry, Illinois was unconscious and later pronounced dead at the scene. The male passenger, an 85-year old man also from McHenry, Illinois, was flown to Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire, where he later died of his injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates the car was traveling northbound on Highway 27 when, for unknown reasons, it deviated into the southbound lane and continued on a path into the west ditch, where it struck a culvert and concrete wall.

The names of the victims are not being released at this time, and the crash remains under investigation.
