Madison, WI : 11-year-old Madison boy who was struck and killed by a car on Monday, July, 13, 2015

Authorities have released the name of an 11-year-old Madison boy who was struck and killed by a car as he rode his bicycle.

The Dane County medical examiner's office identifies the boy as Matthew Court.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports the crash happened around 9:15 a.m. Monday on University Avenue in Madison. The boy was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries hours after arriving.

Police say the crash shut down several eastbound lanes of the busy avenue as crews worked at the scene.

No information was released about the car's driver.
