Port Charlotte, FL : Woman injured after car crashes into house at the corner of Sheldon Avenue Monday, July 18, 2016

A Port Charlotte woman was critically injured Monday when her vehicle crashed into a house.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Betty Legg, 57, was headed north on Harbor Boulevard when for an unknown reason, her Dodge Charger left the road and ran into the front of a house at the corner of Sheldon Avenue.

Legg was eventually airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital.

Troopers are hoping someone may have witnessed the crash and has information about why Legg's vehicle ran off the road. The crash occurred around 4:45 p.m., and was not alcohol related. FHP also said Legg wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
