Fredericksburg, VA : A 2-year-old Colonial Beach boy was killed on Wednesday, August 23, 2017
A 2-year-old Colonial Beach boy was killed Wednesday after he was thrown from a wrecked dirt bike and struck by a passing car in King George County, state police said.
State police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said the accident occurred about 8:19 p.m. on Comorn Road in King George, less than a mile north of Igo Road. De’Shon T. Brown, 21, was riding a youth dirt bike with his young son when he tried to cross Comorn Road and crashed the bike in the roadway.
The child, Brayden C. Brown, was thrown from the bike and landed in the travel lane. Moments later, a 22-year-old man driving a BMW ran off the road to the right in an attempt to avoid the father and son. Brayden was struck and killed.
De’Shon Brown was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital and was still being treated Friday for life-threatening injuries. Police did not update his condition Friday despite repeated requests.
The state police press release does not make it clear if the BMW struck Brown or whether his injuries were strictly attributable to the dirt-bike crash.
Trooper J.L. Simone is investigating the accident. No charges had been filed as of Friday.
Brown graduated from King George High School and played on the football team there. He spent the past few seasons at Shenandoah College, where he played wide receiver.
One of his teammates at King George was Alon Clipper, who was killed in a recent shooting incident in Fredericksburg. Charges have been filed in that case.
