Albany, NY : Morris County 19-year-old killed in single-vehicle crash on Friday, January 13th 2017

A 19-year-old from Morris County died following a single-vehicle crash in upstate New York on Friday, authorities said.

Gregory C. Persaud, of Morris Plains, was speeding when he passed a vehicle on the left shoulder while traveling on Interstate 81 in Kirkwood, New York State Police said in a news release. The car veered off the road and slammed into a tree, police said.

Persaud was hospitalized with severe injuries. He was pronounced dead on Saturday.

Kirkwood is about 10 miles south of Binghamton, N.Y.
