GRAFTON, MA : Man injured in Grafton construction accident on Saturday, 24th September 2016

Firefighters extricated an injured worker from a front-end loader at a construction site Saturday.

Patrick Kennedy, 51, an employee of EarthWorks Site Development and Utilities was conscious and alert when extricated and taken to UMass Medical Center for treatment, according to a news release posted on the Grafton Police Facebook Page.

Grafton police dispatch received an ambulance request at 10:39 a.m. Saturday regarding a person injured from a fall at a construction site near 75 Carroll Road, police reported. A front-end loader had tipped sideways over a trench approximately 5 feet deep, and Mr. Kennedy was injured and trapped in the cab of the construction equipment.

Police said Grafton Fire and the Massachusetts Fire District 7 Technical Rescue Team shored the trench walls. Police said Kennedy was extricated at approximately 1:55 p.m., examined at the scene and subsequently taken to the hospital.
